A Proposed Framework from the Perspective of Generalist Social Work Practice to Improve the Level of Psychological and Social Adjustment of Newly Widowed Women as a Result of the 2023 War on the Gaza Strip

Abstract

This study sought to formulate a proposed conceptual framework, grounded in the generalist practice perspective of social work, to enhance the psychological and social adjustment of women recently widowed as a consequence of the 2023 war on the Gaza Strip. The study adopts a descriptive research design and utilizes the social survey method through a sampling approach. Data were collected a researcher-developed scale administered to a stratified random sample of 379 newly widowed women registered within the national system affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development in Gaza. The most important findings of the study: The findings indicate that the level of psychological adjustment among newly widowed women was moderate, with a mean score of 3.02 and a relative weight of 60%. Similarly, the level of social adjustment was found to be moderate, with an overall mean of 3.13 and a relative weight of 62.56,The most important recommendations of the study: In light of these findings, the study advances a proposed conceptual model, derived from the generalist social work perspective, aimed at improving psychological and social adjustment among newly widowed women affected by the 2023 war on the Gaza Strip.
